Surfaces

When quoting for a job, a tiler will look at the surfaces. If they are flat and level, no problems! But if you have an older property, you can find that walls are not flat, the floor may move or angles may not be square.

Area and cost

Having an idea of how many square meters of tiling you need have done will help you calculate how much material and labour will be involved. Use our Area Calculator below to work out square meterage.

Tiling Plan

We recommend that you always order 20% more tiles than you actually need. This allows for corner cuts and can also leave you with some spares in case of future breakages. Most tile suppliers will allow you to return any unopened boxes should there be more left over than anticipated.

Waterproofing

If you are tiling a bathroom or laundry there are building requirements around waterproofing. Please check the regulations in your area. Waterproofing is a rubbery liquid that is usualy brushed onto floors and walls. It creates a watertight barrier underneath tiling that will prevent moisture penetrating into structure or adjacent rooms.
